Privacy Policy

Last updated 15 August 2026

This policy explains what we collect, why, and what we do not do with it. It covers the ThroVid website and the desktop application.

What we collect

When you create an account: your name, email address, and a hash of your password. We never store your password itself.

When you buy: the plan, currency and amount, the payment method, the time, and the IP address the order came from. If you pay by a manual method, we also store the transaction reference and the screenshot you upload.

When you activate a device: a device identifier the application generates, a fingerprint derived from your machine, and optionally the hostname, operating system and application version. The fingerprint is a one-way hash — it lets us recognise the same machine, and it cannot be turned back into details about it.

When you connect a Facebook Page: the application exchanges Facebook's authorisation code for an access token through our server, so the token is briefly handled there — but it is handed straight back to your device and is not stored on our server afterwards. The raw access token itself never leaves your machine again once that exchange is complete.

Automatically: basic server logs, including IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

What we do not collect

The desktop application does not send us your videos, the captions or hashtags it generates, your AI provider's API key, or anything about which Facebook Pages you publish to. Licensing checks carry your licence key and your device identifier, and nothing about what you are doing with the software. AI-generated captions are produced by calling the provider you configured directly from your machine — that call, and the key that authorises it, never passes through us.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it for advertising.

Payment details

We never see or store your card number. Online payments are handled by the payment provider, who receives your details directly. We store the provider's reference for the transaction so we can match it to your order.

If you pay by a manual method, the screenshot you upload is stored outside our public web directory, is re-encoded on upload so nothing but the image survives, and is readable only by you and by our staff.

Why we are allowed to hold it

  • To provide what you bought — this is our contract with you
  • To meet legal obligations, such as keeping records of sales
  • For our legitimate interests in keeping the service secure and preventing

licence abuse

How long we keep it

Order and payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting rules require.

Activation history is kept for the life of the licence and afterwards, because it is what settles a dispute about who used what.

If you close your account we keep the financial records we are required to keep and remove the rest.

Who else sees it

  • Our payment providers, for the payments they process
  • Our email provider, to deliver your licence key and receipts
  • Our hosting provider, which stores the data on our behalf
  • Facebook, when you choose to connect a Page — governed by Facebook's own

privacy terms, not this one

We do not give your data to anyone else unless the law requires it.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete what we are not required to keep. Write to support@throvid.com and we will respond.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in, and a token to protect forms from cross-site request forgery. Both are necessary for the site to work. If site analytics are enabled, that is noted here and configured by the site owner.
