How to Connect Your Facebook Page Manually

ThroVid's default "Connect Facebook" button uses ThroVid's own shared Facebook App, which is still going through Meta's Business Verification and App Review. While that's in progress, there are two ways to connect a Page right now — both fully supported, not workarounds.

Both paths live in the same place: open ThroVid, go to Connected Accounts → Facebook → Advanced Facebook connection options. Pick whichever fits you — Path 1 is faster to set up, Path 2 keeps working longer without you touching it again.

Path 1: Add a Page Manually

Paste a Page Access Token you generate yourself. No Facebook App to create, no login window — just a token.

  1. Go to Meta's Graph API Explorer.
  2. In the app dropdown, any app works here — the Explorer's own default app is fine.
  3. Click Get User Access Token and grant these permissions: pages_show_list, pages_read_engagement, pages_manage_posts — and business_management too, if the Page belongs to a Business Portfolio rather than sitting directly on your personal profile.
  4. Copy that token, then open the Access Token Debugger, paste it in, and click Extend Access Token. This turns it into a long-lived User token.
  5. Back in Graph API Explorer, with that long-lived token active, query /me/accounts. Find your Page in the results and copy its own access_token field — that's your Page Access Token.
  6. In ThroVid: Advanced Facebook connection options → Add Page Manually, paste it in, and save.

A Page token generated this way has no expiry of its own — it keeps working indefinitely. It only stops if you revoke the app's access, change your Facebook password, or lose your admin role on the Page.

Path 2: Use Your Own Facebook App

Create a small Facebook App of your own and use it with ThroVid's normal "Connect Facebook" flow. Since you're that app's own Admin, Meta's review requirement doesn't apply — it works immediately, indefinitely, for you.

  1. Go to developers.facebook.com/apps → Create App → type Other → Business.
  2. When asked for a use case, pick Authenticate and request data from users with Facebook Login (add Manage everything on your Page too if you're offered it as a separate option).
  3. In App settings → Basic, add this to App domains (the bare domain only, no https:// and no path): throvid.com
  4. Under Facebook Login for Business → Settings, add this exact URL to Valid OAuth Redirect URIs: https://throvid.com/oauth/facebook/callback
  5. Back on App settings → Basic, copy your App ID and reveal your App Secret.
  6. In ThroVid: Advanced Facebook connection options → Use your own Facebook App, paste both in, and save.
  7. Click Connect Facebook — the real Facebook login window opens, now using your own app.

Seeing "Can't load URL — the domain of this URL isn't included in the app's domains"? That means the App domains field from step 3 either wasn't saved, or has a full URL in it instead of just the bare domain. Go back, fix it, click Save Changes, and try connecting again.

What each permission is actually for

  • pages_show_list — lets ThroVid show you the list of Pages you manage, so you can pick which ones to publish to.
  • pages_manage_posts — lets ThroVid publish your uploaded video as a Reel on your selected Page(s).
  • pages_read_engagement — powers ThroVid's Analytics screen for Reels you've published.
  • business_management — only needed if a Page is owned through a Business Portfolio rather than directly on your personal profile.

Which one should you use?

Path 1 is the faster way to get started right now — a couple of minutes in Graph API Explorer and you're publishing. Path 2 takes a little longer to set up once, but you never have to think about it again after that. Either one is a genuine, fully-supported way to connect — not a stopgap.
